BICSI

BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International) is a professional association supporting the information transport systems (ITS) industry. BICSI serves more than 24,000 ITS (information transport systems) professionals, including designers, installers and technicians who provide the requisite infrastructure for telecommunications, audio/video, life, safety and automation systems. Through courses, conferences, publications and professional registration programs, BICSI staff and volunteers assist ITS professionals in delivering critical products and services, while offering opportunities for continuing improvement and enhanced professional stature. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, BICSI membership spans nearly 100 countries.


IT ALL STARTS WITH TRAINING

PCC maintains the best-trained field service crews in the industry, and it is because our commitment to personnel development begins on the date of hire, from entrylevel on up. All personnel receive industry and PCC proprietary orientation. Typically, within their first year, entry-level installers are required to complete BICSI Installer 1 training (see box, “BICSI,” on page X). Upon achieving two years experience Installer 2 training is mandatory. Shortly after reaching five years experience they must complete BICSI Technician training. From there, field service personnel are encouraged to develop their leadership skills and pursue Lead Technician, Project Manager and Account Manager positions.

All leadership positions are required to complete various levels of Project Management and Customer Service training. Throughout their tenure with PCC, field service personnel are also receiving routine manufacturer-specific training, along with other industry knowledge and safety training covering both processes and technologies.

Certain kinds of customers will experience the greatest value and lowest net cost from PCC’s services. Large organizations with substantial amounts of work being done in multiple locales, as well as multiple buildings at a single location, will benefit from the economies of scale that PCC offers. PCC takes on all kinds of customers, of course, but our mission and vision are particularly compelling for Fortune 500® firms, municipalities, universities and other large, multi-location operations.
